Sean wrote: Tue May 21, 2024 9:43 pm Has anyone tried going up Alder Creek from Upper Big Tujunga Road? Looks like about 2.75 miles XC with an old trail partway, then a rocky stretch before the crag.
Alder Creek Trail? Maybe Matt knows current status (see my 2009 TR link above).

Re: The Search For Alder Crag

Where is 2N17? I can't find it. 3N17? TIA. OK, for what it is worth, here are a couple of pictures I have of what I think is your crag of interest. I took these on a hike up to Round Top I took from Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road back in 2009. Two pics and my route. Also a link to my initial TR (with...

Re: Kenyon DeVore Trail (Mt. Wilson)

I hiked down the Kenyon Devore back in 2007 and a month later I hiked up the Kenyon Devore. Granted this was 17 years ago but it is one of the most enjoyable trails in the Mt. Wilson area. Unfortunately this was before I owned a camera...wtf? It was also before all of the fires that have since affec...

Woohoooooooooooo! My favorite - a jfr TR!!! Man, it's been a while. I read the whole thing and enjoyed seeing places I haven't seen in years. AW and other NHPS'rs (Near Hundred Peaks Section) will appreciate the fact you avoided summiting so many peaks. As always, thanks for the TR. I really enjoyed...

Re: LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN QUESTION

I have a KMZ file of my route from 15 years ago. I went up the trail to bear flat and then followed a trail from there towards Lookout. I came down a different route, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone :) I can load the file into caltopo or google earth but can't save a fucking image file of what I se...

Nice TR.

Oddly, the one time I went up Sunset in 2008 the ridge route was clear of snow (except near the peak) but the peak and the road back down were covered in snow and ice. Ridge route up is fun. Here's a shot of Baldy from Sunset 2008-02-16...

You can poke around the tax assessor's site...

LA County: https://maps.assessor.lacounty.gov/m/

double clicking on properties will bring up some info...used to include owner's name but they may have started omitting that info.

Re: MISSING HIKER ON MT BALDY (Lisei Huang)

To be clear, I wasn't calling this young lady "stupid". I used the example of a young person in tennis shoes traveling in 2 feet of snow to point out that there are people ( and their parents) who do stupid things and DON'T learn.

I'm sure I'm still not expressing my ideas clearly. Sorry.
