Sheephorn wilderness backpacking

I'm interested in heading down in the sheephorn wilderness sometime in oct or nov. The map i have shows cabin flat, mine gulch, and several fish fork camps. I can't find much info on these on the NF webpage, and says cabin flat is closed. Are these open for backpacking, or I assume dispersed camping...

Re: Sespe bpack trip - Upper Reyes Trail Camp

Absolutely love that trail, I've done it a few times now over the years. Just read your trip report on your site, amazed you said there was bear scat all over bear trap. I've never seen any there. Did you see the dead bear bones in the canyon past bear trap? Its been there for years now. My favorite...

North backbone trail

Anyone interested in hiking from guffy, pine mountain, dawson to baldy this Saturday 5/10? I usually hike alone but can't find a partner for this weekend and reading trip reports for this route it sounds smart to not go alone. I was thinking about going up Friday afternoon and camping at guffy Frida...

Re: Pine Mountain Success, Dawson Failure

Bean- Guffy is open and you can drive right up to it. The road is a little rough in places, but I made it in a Honda Civic. Both Guffy and Blue Ridge were full Saturday as best as I could tell. Thanks Rico. My friend and I are planning for Sunday. Where do you park the local hikes says parking is t...

Awesome! I hiked to west baldy sunday via bear creek, and was wondering about doing this hike while looking at my map and overlooking the mountains from up there! is the guffy campground open, is it a hike in only camp or can you drive up to it? I want to do this hike from guffy to mount baldy in th...

Re: TR: Mt Whitney (second time is the charm)

Congrats on your summit. I take it from your title that the first trip didn't go as well.. That's one way to put it. I did make it to the summit last year. But I got caught in the nastiest thunder-lightning-hail storm I ever experienced in my life. Not this year tho. Weather was perfect. Congrats. ...

I completed the JMT on 7.22.13. intense thunderstorms the night before at guitar lake. left for the summit at 3:00am from guitar lake and was on top at 5:30am. was not the sunrise I was hoping for, still a little stormy and some snow. crazy! only stayed 2 minutes. https://eispiraten.com/images-archi...

Re: Sespe bpack trip - Upper Reyes Trail Camp

I love it up there. I have done the genemarshall piedra blanca trail a handful of times. I've hike the reyes peak trail into haddock camp where it intersects, that is a wonderful hike and great views along the ridge. Shorro Grande is another hike up since the road is closed up to pine mountain / rey...

Looks so awesome! how long did it take you to Mammoth?

I am gearing up to do the JMT, starting on July 2nd, never been to Yosemite and can't wait! I don't think I will have as much snow when I go.

Re: Bear Flats to Mt. Baldy (5/10/13)

I've visited Baldy numerous times, but this was my first outing from Mt. Baldy Village. Seeing as how the route was measured at a little over 6 miles, I had hoped to do it under 3.5 hours, but it took me at least 4.75 hours. I guess I underestimated the strain the steepness would have on my speed. ...

I want to go this hike again this coming weekend but want to make it a loop. what are the options, go down the ski hut trail, or do the backbone trail to the resturant? if the backbone way it looks like a long hike down from there but can you take the ski lift? how many miles are we talking? thanks.
