I have wanted to do this one for a long time but always been distracted by other hikes that I like. On Sunday that changed..and now I have a new hike I like.

We started out from Angelus Oaks. You need a permit for the San Gorgonio Wilderness. The trail is well marked and relatively easy. There are about 4,800' feet of elevation to do on the hike (or more if you continue on to Little San Bernardino Peak). In spite the freezing strong wind, it was a beautiful day to be in the mountains. And a little bit of snow to introduce the coming of winter.

The trail above 8,500'

Limber Pine Bench about 2/3 of the way up at 9,300'

Washington Monument at 10,260' This is not a peak but the promontory used by survey teams.

View of the San Gabriel Mts. from Washington Monument. You could clearly see the Eastern peaks in the range as well as Big Bear Lake from this point.

Summit photo 10,620' We forgot to bring Y and M to complete the picture.
