FUNGUS?

I've seen some pretty interesting Fungus in the forest but nothing like this. At first, I thought it was a snake.
Yesterday, I noticed this on a tree hiking in Big Bear.

I don't really "get" fungi. Separate kingdom from plants and animals, but still eukaryotic cells. Some kind of alien life form.

Fungi are indeed super weird. In some alternate reality where I became a biologist, I'd probably want to focus on fungi because they are so strange.

That one does look a little like a snake at a glace, and then it kind of looks like a pile of baked goods. Your post reminded me to post a few photos I've taken of fungi since moving in a separate thread.
