Red Mountain fire break appears to have been bulldozed recently and is in great shape. The steep climb is made easier with lots of soft dirt to plunge into as you come down the steep inclines. A glass can has been put on top as of 2020 by John Vitz one of those prolific peakbaggers not named Burd. Only two other parties signed in since then. The route is like a mini Pigeon Ridge and you get maximum gain for your buck. Views are decent but nothing spectacular as you just aren't high enough.

Got a good chuckle from this! Time was, the statement went something like "...not named Smatko."

Between Lake Hughes Road and San Francisquito near Castaic, here is a write up by one of our own prior to the bulldoze work.
