question regarding identification of plants

I have many field guides on the trees and plants of the San Gabriel Mountains. I enjoy identifying plant, just post the image and I will do my best to identify,

WHAT IT IS?!

The blade of grass thing. Lots of them on the small peak south of Burro Peak. Usually just one blade of shiny grass, and that's it.

There seems to be a lot of this stuff in the San Gabriels. Is it in any of your books?

If it's got a sharp point on it, which in this photo it appears as though it does, it's Our Lord's Candle yucca yucca whipleii (Latin spelling approximate)

They don't grow very tall, and it's not a succulent but a grass of some sort.

In the ANF, you'll find plenty of it anywhere you see this plant.

Oh, OK, I think I know what you're talking about. I'm not sure which one that is, but it might be "Bear Grass".
