Here's the trailer for Smallfoot.

This animated movie did well in theaters and is now available to rent. It is for both kids and adults. The action can be cartoon-like, but the story and dialogue are clever. Also, the animation is top-notch, and the Himilayan setting should appeal to mountain-lovers.

The film depicts a community of Yeti living on the top of a snowy mountain surrounded by clouds, isolated from the rest of the world. The protagonist, Migo, has a chance encounter with a "smallfoot", a human. But the village leader accuses Migo of lying. Believing in smallfoot is against the Yeti faith written on stones. So Migo and some rebellious friends leave the village and try to find proof that the smallfoot exists and that the stones are wrong.

There are some universal themes here: courage, integrity, curiosity, honesty. And they are brought out by the characters in touching and humorous ways. I actually didn't want the movie to end. Hopefully there will be a sequel.
