What if one gets locked in? Does the gate lock from both sides? Since the sign is on the outside a photo or memory of the email address would be required to get out?

That gate was always overly fortified for some reason. Jeff: there are other access points that are more siege-prone

Thanks for the pics. I sent an email to the address on the sign:

Me: Regarding the locked gate at the Mt. Wilson Toll Road/Eaton Canyon access point on Pinecrest Ave: If I come back after closing time (sunset), will I be locked in (trapped) Eaton Canyon? Or does the gate open from the inside even if it's locked so I can get back out; i.e. escape?

Their reply:
Gate allows for user access between 5:30 am and closes at 8:00 pm. Please keep in mind the hours are subject to change depending upon the season and could be adjusted to conform with the official trails operational hours which is 8am to 7:30pm daily.

Exiting through the access gate is allowed 24 hours a day.

Hope this helps.
